If you’re in Austin and in the mood for a glamping getaway, you won’t have to go far outside the city limits to find some choice spots.

Sure, camping is its own kind of fun, but sometimes you just want to revel in a little luxury while still surrounded by nature. That’s easy enough with the many different kinds of glamping in Austin and the surrounding area. From high-end yurts to decked-out airstreams, there are many spots that prove just how comfortable glamping can really be.

All the Austin glamping rentals below are within an hour’s drive from downtown.  Without further ado, check out the best glamping spots below close to the state’s awesome capital city.

1. Luxury Eco Yurt

You’ll be surprised at how much this luxury eco yurt can hold. Step inside, and you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, cozy living space, cute library section, and luxurious oversized tub. In other words, it’s everything you need to relax in true comfort.

Since the yurt is located on 20 acres of The Cedars Ranch, it’s easy to commune with the outdoors. There are on-site walking trails as well as enclosed flower and orchid gardens, plus a fire pit. You even have the option to book on-site wellness coaching and arrange an in-yurt massage.

About 15 minutes away from the quaint town of Wimberley, the yurt puts you in close proximity to fun spots like Jacob’s Well and Blue Hole Regional Park.

The spacious interior feels like a high-end hotel with its plush king-size bed, fireplace, and spa-like bathroom. It’s hard to beat relaxing in the fancy soaking tub while looking out onto the sunrise. You’ll also find a full kitchen (hello, Nespresso machine!) and chic sitting area.

But wait, there’s more! Ndotto’s private outdoor courtyard offers an attractive place to unwind, and there’s a hot tub and outdoor shower. Due to its high vantage point, this stay delivers big when it comes to nature vistas. From the private wraparound deck, you can take views of the hills stretching to the horizon.

3. Sasha Ger

Made from hand-stripped wood with sheeps-wool insulation and horsehair ropes, Sasha Ger combines luxury with more traditional yurt elements. “Ger” is the Mongolian word for a yurt, and this particular ger even features hand-painted details around the ceiling and furniture.

From outside your door, you can hop into the little plunge pool and watch a movie on the outdoor TV. Head up to the rooftop deck to take in spectacular Hill Country sunsets or check out the stars from the hammock. This beautiful stay also has its own covered, outdoor bathroom that gives off serious spa vibes, as well as an outdoor kitchen.

While it may feel like you’re in a far-off paradise, Sasha Ger is actually less than a 10-minute drive from Wimberley’s town square. So food, drinks, and shopping are always within reach. The property also has two other yurts available for booking.

4. Grand Tesoro Tent

Comfier than you might guess from the outside, the roomy RV has all the standard amenities you’ll need, including a fridge, stove, microwave, and TV. There actually is plenty of room for four guests thanks to the queen bed plus a bunk bed.

A big plus of this camper is its proximity to Canyon Lake. Boat, wave runner, kayak, or paddleboard rentals at Canyon Lake Marina are just five miles away, as are a few river tubing companies. It’s one of the more affordable places to glamp in Austin, especially considering it sleeps a small family.

6. Yurt in the Trees

While this place is a great place to mentally unplug, there is fiber Wi-Fi internet if you need to log on. But most likely, you’ll be too preoccupied exploring the surrounding natural areas to worry about your email. While you’re wandering the property, say hi to the donkeys in the front corral area.

Modern city living meets the wide-open countryside at Tom Dooley’s Hideout. This sleek tiny home may look small from the exterior, but it has all the essentials, including a separated bedroom with a queen-size bed, kitchen area (there’s no stove, but there is a microwave), and bathroom. There’s also a grill and picnic area with a couple of hammocks outside.

While you’re here, be on the lookout for the adorable neighbors. Since this stay is on an open range, the free-grazing livestock may wander by the property and some of the more curious ones may even come right up to the window. This is also a great Austin glamping spot for pets as there’s only a $35 dog fee.

With Tom Dooley’s Hideout as your home base, you can make your way through the many wineries, breweries, and distilleries in the Dripping Springs area. Pedernales Falls State Park is also nearby if you want to hike.

8. The Nest

The surrounding retreat has 200 acres to explore, including an expansive lawn, spacious pavilion, and fire pit And of course, you can also enjoy an evening dip in the hot tub, which has enough room for 10 guests. There are also hiking trails on-site and three other luxury yurt cabins on the premises if you’re in a bigger group.

9. Green Acres
