As temperatures in Texas reach scorching levels, you can keep things cool at this stylish, artsy Austin hotel.

From quirky Airbnbs to big-name options and everything in between, Austin has plenty of interesting accommodations for staycationers and out-of-town visitors. If you’re one of the many who plan to enjoy some rest and relaxation in Texas’ capital during the sweaty, summer months though, Hotel ZaZa downtown is one spot that begs extra attention.

Opened in September 2019, Hotel ZaZa Austin Downtown is the newest location of the Hotel ZaZa brand’s chain of Texas boutique hotels, adding to Dallas Uptown, Houston Memorial City, and Houston Museum District. Standing at the corner of W 4th Street and Lavaca Street, the property is a convenient, centrally located home base for explorations around the city.

Powerful air conditioning aside, nothing helps make it through the high Texas temperatures like a good pool, and Hotel ZaZa has an enviable one on the 7th floor. With plush, brightly printed lounge chairs and a relaxed but ultra-chic patio, the pool area is inspired by Austin’s dynamic spirit.

Book the “A Cabana Day to Remember” package and you can enjoy a private cabana for four people with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rosé Champagne, a fruit and cheese amenity upon arrival, $200 poolside food and beverage credit, and valet parking.

Just because Hotel ZaZa is a chain doesn’t mean you should expect cookie-cutter accommodations. One of the hotel’s signature offerings are its Magnificent Seven suites.

“Our Magnificent Seven suites provide travelers with a more unique experience compared to the standard rooms they can book in the city,” says the hotel’s manager. “Each suite has its own individual theme that is inspired by different points in history, various cultures, and destinations.”

Every Hotel ZaZa location in Texas has a different selection of Magnificent Seven suites. In Austin, there’s Sea Side, Collegiate, Orient Express, Bungalow 6, It’s Complicated, Hill Country, and Loft.

Honoring the nearby University of Texas, the Collegiate suite features leather accents, Longhorn pillows, and splashes of burnt orange. In the Hill Country suite next door, you can find country cottage furnishings like warmly patterned chairs and mixed materials incorporated into the design.

Art All Around

The arts are important to Austin – with the nickname “Live Music Capital of the World” and the slogan “Keep Austin Weird”, that should come as no surprise. The arts are important inside the hotel as well. Walk into any ZaZa location and you’ll find interesting pieces in both the public areas and guest rooms. Earlier this year, Hotel ZaZa was even on the hunt for an Art Explorer to create a catalog of the various locations’ artwork.

Just recently, Hotel ZaZa Austin adorned its walls with new works. “Guests who stay at Hotel ZaZa Austin are greeted on each guestroom floor with celebrity portraits in the hallway by Dorit Rabinovitch, flanking the walls,” said the hotel’s manager. “The art at our hotel makes for a truly sensory and stimulating feeling.”
