Upstate New York makes a fantastic getaway for those seeking a bit of peace and quiet outside of the city — whether you’re driving in from Manhattan or somewhere further afield.

From the mountains of the Adirondacks to the lakes further south, adventures await from every traveler, no matter your preferred form of outdoor fun.

But where do you go when you need somewhere to lay your head at night? Stay in tune with nature by booking a cabin rather than a hotel room — and if that cabin just so happens to offer a hot tub, all the better. Here are nine cabins with hot tubs in Upstate New York to add to your travel wishlist.

Why you should stay here: Outdoor fun regardless of the season!

  • Location: Lake Placid
  • Sleeps: 8
  • Minimum Stay: 3 nights
  • Rates from: $375/night

You may think that the chilly New York winters make for unpleasant stays during the ends and beginnings of each year, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. While Upstate New York delights in the summer with its hiking and water sports, it offers just as much fun in the winter with skiing, snowshoeing and more.

At Whitetail Loj, you’ll find just as much outdoor fun regardless of the season, thanks to the summertime in-ground saltwater pool, and the wintertime hot tub. Both are located on a very spacious back patio. Don’t forget the sauna, too! Other amenities include air conditioning (not as easy to find in Upstate New York as you might think!), a gas fireplace, high-speed internet and more.

Why you should stay here: Smaller digs for smaller groups that love hot tubs.

  • Location: Hague
  • Sleeps: 8
  • Minimum Stay: 2 nights
  • Rates from: $199/night

In your search for a cabin stay in Upstate New York, you’ve likely already realized that (in a lot of instances) your options are going to be these big sprawling cabins that are more suited to traveling groups and big families than couples or parents with just one or two kids. If you don’t want to rent some cavernous cabin that’s not only out of your budget, but also a little too big to be comfortable, look to the Cozy Cub Cabin.

While it can sleep eight, it technically only has two bedrooms, outfitted with four beds. The overall footprint is on the small side (1,000 square feet), though the cabin sits on 24 acres. Outside, you can enjoy a spacious deck, along with a hot tub, and, the entire time, you’re only about two miles from Lake George, where you can enjoy a range of family fun, from mini golf and historic sites to boat rides and outlet shopping.

Why you should stay here: Near-endless amenities — including a sauna!

  • Location: Lake Placid
  • Sleeps: 15
  • Minimum Stay: 2 nights
  • Rates from: $583/night

The Deer Pine Chalet offers so many on-site amenities in an upscale, luxury cabin setting that you’ll never want to leave — even though this chalet sits just a few miles from Whiteface Mountain and all its skiing and hiking. A huge fireplace is the centerpiece of the main living space, while a gourmet kitchen awaits nearby.

Outside, a large deck offers views of the forest, while a smaller deck provides a grilling space and even more seating. A sauna keeps things cozy in the snowy months, as does a seven-person hot tub.

6. Grand Log Cabin

Why you should stay here: Authentic log cabin style with a rustic deck hosting the hot tub.

  • Location: Lake Placid
  • Sleeps: 6
  • Minimum Stay: 3 nights
  • Rates from: $496/night

This grand log cabin is on the cozier side, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in true style. If you don’t really care for the over-the-top, taxidermy-everywhere, classic log cabin feel, you may prefer this option that blends contemporary, modern touches with the woodsy, natural feel of a cabin.

You still have your wood walls and high ceilings, and your stone fireplace, but you also have plush fabric couches, colorful seating and rugs, and an updated exterior that’s more luxurious than rustic. A large deck offers a fire ring, outdoor dining set up and a big, elevated hot tub.

Why you should stay here: Enjoy the wide open spaces from a secluded location.

  • Location: Lake George
  • Sleeps: 8
  • Minimum Stay: 2 nights
  • Rates from: $625/night

Shelving Rock Lodge in Lake George offers a nice blend of privacy and convenience. You’re only a half-hour drive away from Lake George and its dining, shopping, entertainment and waterfront, but you’re also sitting on more than 50 acres, where you can easily access hiking trails and Shelving Rock Falls.

You’ll feel like you have the world all to yourself as you gather around the large fire circle in the front yard, or as you settle into the hot tub on the back deck (which also offers a grill). If the weather’s not quite right for outdoor fun, you can cozy up next to the big stone fireplace in the living room, or take a dip in the upstairs jacuzzi.

Why you should stay here: Breathtaking views from your back porch.

  • Location: Lake Placid
  • Sleeps: 16
  • Minimum Stay: 2 nights
  • Rates from: $569/night

Named for one of New York’s tallest mountains, Algonquin Mountain Chalet definitely delivers when it comes to the views. As soon as you pull up to this remote chalet, you’ll be treated to spectacular, dramatic vista views of the mountains beyond.

You’ll (just barely) have to pull your eyes away from the view so that you can properly enjoy all the chalet amenities, though, because they are expansive. A hot tub sits on the back deck. A sauna sits in the front yard.

Outdoor dining areas provide the perfect place to enjoy a meal while simultaneously enjoying the views. Ample windows inside also allow for sneak peeks of the mountains. Beyond the mountain views, you’ll also get water views with this rental, as the Au Sable River runs directly across the property.

Why you should stay here: The log cabin feel, with a convenient in-town location.

  • Location: Lake Placid
  • Sleeps: 10
  • Minimum Stay: 3 nights
  • Rates from: $625/night

The great thing about this cabin (at least for some travelers)? It’s located right in town, just a few blocks away from downtown Lake Placid. Guests can easily walk to restaurants and shops, as well as Mirror Lake and trailheads for Cobble Mountain, all from this cabin that feels private even though it’s located in a quiet neighborhood.

The outside doesn’t look cabin-esque at all, more like your typical neighborhood home, but the inside does offer a lot of those classic cabin features, such as a stone fireplace and lots of wood accents. Amenities include a hot tub, gourmet kitchen, fire pit and even a heated two-car garage.

Additionally, the cabin is small enough to not feel overwhelming, but still offers enough space for traveling families and groups. Seating abounds both indoors and outdoors, too, whether you’re gathered around the dining room table, kicking back to relax in front of the fireplace or enjoying a meal or the weather outdoors.
