Daytona Beach is famous for hosting Daytona 500, but it’s also home to a 23-mile stretch of gorgeous beach — and a lively boardwalk.
Between May and October, you might even witness the giant sea turtles crawling on land after they emerge from the Atlantic to lay their eggs on the beach. If you are lucky enough to see them, be sure to give them lots and lots of room.
Since 1926, Daytona Beach has been regarded as one of the world’s most famous beaches, when several small towns incorporated to become the modern-day city. And if you’re wondering where you know the name “Daytona” from, it’s probably from the famous Daytona 500, the annual moto race held on the hard-pack flat sand.
But if you’re not into cars, you’ll probably find more than enough to do between the city’s beaches, boardwalks, mini-golf, beachfront restaurants, parks, and wide variety of watersports. Fortunately, airbnbs in Daytona Beach are fairly affordable, especially considering it’s less than an hour to the famous resorts in Orlando, like Walk Disney World and Universal Studios.
