Big Bend National Park is among the most remote National Parks in the lower 48 states. Still, there are pretty sweet Airbnbs nearby.

Located in southwest Texas along the northern bank of the Rio Grande River, Big Bend National Park lies along the border with Mexico and is home to a vast expanse of exceptional desert scenery.

The Chisos Mountains reside in the heart of the park. They’re an isolated range of peaks that have an ecosystem all their own, and, even though they’re surrounded by many miles of arid desert, these mountains are home to a growing population of black bears.

There is a lot to see in Big Bend, with a surprising number of awesome day hikes in the mountains and along the Rio Grande. There’s also a seemingly endless backcountry prime for exploration on feet or with a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle.

The landscape outside of the park is also quite breathtaking, and nearly as remote. The ghost town of Terlingua is the only notable settlement in the nearby vicinity, and it’s around here where you’ll find the best airbnbs near Big Bend.
